The Unilever Foundry team attended unbound London this month, to share knowledge with other corporates, brands, innovators and startups and learn about the very latest innovation trends in Europe.

We heard about: the increasing use of voice technology by brands to create a more meaningful connection with consumers; trends towards collaboration and the use of coworking spaces among international businesses; the importance of considering the ethical, social, and human impact of tech as a fundamental part of design and delivery; and the increasing importance of being able to influence consumer behavioural change for future innovation to be possible.

The tech startups making waves in mental health
 
As mental health continues to gain exposure in public discourse, tech startups Woebot and Spring Health are seeking to tackle the issue through technology.

Woebot is an on-the-go therapy chatbot and app that uses the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy to treat depression, while Spring Health sells a digital mental health benefit to employers.

M&S partners with Founders Factory
 
M&S has partnered with startup incubator Founders Factory to invest in a number of early-stage retail tech startups and ultimately shake up its digital offering.

The initiative is part of M&S's five-year transformation plan, which has already seen it announce new partnerships with Microsoft and Octopus Energy.

Bristol-based startups join Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator programme
 
Oracle has revealed the startups taking part in its Bristol-based Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator Programme: Snap Tech, LettUs Grow, We Build Bots, Sauce and GapSquare.

Snap Tech offers consumers the tools to find what they're looking to buy via visual search, AI, and machine learning; LettUs Grow helps vertical farms implement irrigation and control technologies; We Build Bots' IntelAgent has been designed for contact centre agents, offering a collaboration-led customer service platform built on AI and analytics; Sauce's cloud-based video collaboration platform is reinventing video content for businesses; and GapSquare seeks to eradicate gender pay gaps by analysing data and generating data-driven recommendations for change.

Startup of the Month: Spoon Guru
 
Spoon Guru is an innovative online AI platform which provides consumers with personal recommendations on food and recipes according to their specific dietary requirements.

The company recently partnered with Tesco to help its customers with specific diets and tastes to quickly and easily find suitable food/groceries while shopping online. Tesco has plans to continue rolling out this partnership throughout the rest of this year.
